Mcunu worked as part of the secretariat development team at South-South North for the Adaptation Research Alliance (ARA) supported by the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO). Mcunu was also the Founder of Black Women in Science (BWIS). She completed her Ph.D. in climate change and agriculture at the Global Change Institute at Witwatersrand University, South Africa. Ndoni's research focus is on climate change, food systems, and policy.
Her focus is on analyzing how to make farmers more resilient to the impacts of climate change. In her fight for climate justice, Ndoni recently co-authored the Greenpeace International and Greenpeace Africa report on “Extreme weather events and climate change in Africa ''.
